An End of Life Doula (EoLD) is a non-medical person who provides emotional and holistic support to people throughout the dying process and beyond. The doula heart is filled with compassion, ensuring each person served feels heard, empowered, and honoured. According to the End of Life Doula Association of Canada, "End of Life Doulas empower, educate and encourage people and their families to be involved in making end of life decisions. Death is a process that can span over months or even years rather than an event and doulas can help with supporting and planning. "
Hello, my name is Shelley Blair. In my work as an End of Life Doula, and a Dementia Doula....
I offer a tender, loving presence at the edge of life—holding space with calm acceptance, where peace can settle in and grace can rise. I believe the end of life, though often feared, holds the potential to be profoundly beautiful, and I walk alongside others to help make it so.
I assist families by being a companion to their loved ones. I spend precious time with them and allow you time to take care of yourself.
As a Certified Dementia Care Provider (CDCP), I seek ways to improve the quality of life of my client(s) I care for in consultation with them and/or with their family. I utilize creative solutions as the first line approach when managing dementia-related behaviours. I always put my client(s) first by getting to know them and discovering what makes them happy or what upsets, then working on solutions. I use holistic approaches in my care and respect my clients needs and wishesat all times.
